In the Mind of Molly (My Dog)

In The Mind Of Molly

At Lake Martin

Getting Ready To Leave

What are we doing outside? Oh, wait . . . the car door is opening! Yes! I knew that we were going somewhere when they started moving all their things outside. I thought it might have something to do with going in the car. I really like the car.

The Ride There

Oh, my seat in the back! I get to sit by Charlie! He doesn’t have his little magic box with him? More time to scratch me then! Yay! Everyone is here, buckled up, and safe! My favorite! Now the window screens are moving! I figured out that the big black balls/tires on the outside of the car, they’re just for looks. The real magic is the window screens! They show where we are going. I like looking at the window screens, but I have to stand up to do that, so I rotate. Sometimes I look at the window screens and sometimes I sit or lay down. Why are we stopping? Dad is talking to a screen. Now we are getting food! I want a hamburger! Oh, I guess it is only for humans. I’ll wait till the screens to stop moving to get food. I’ll just take a nap then.

We Arrive

Why so loud guy- the screens have stopped moving! I need to go to the bathroom! I’ll try to fight my way out of the car. No! Why is Ella stopping me? Doesn’t she know that I have to poop?! Oh, she’s putting on my harness and leash. Now I can get out of the car and relieve myself. . . ahhh . . . that feels better. I remember this place! There’s this big wet stuff on the other side of the new house. And Susie and Granda- wait! There they are! Ohhhh, yes! They’re so nice. I’ll give them a bunch of kisses! Ella’s taking me inside. I am so hungry. Oh! How did she know? She is pouring my food into a bowl! Mmmmmm . . . this is so good. I’m tired. Let’s go to sleep now.

Time To Get Wet

Day 1

Yay! We’re going down to the point! The wet stuff is very refreshing! It’s also shallow there so I don’t have to swim. Swimming is hard. Ella’s unhooking my leash! Let’s see how fast I can get there . . . 5 seconds! New record! Splash, splash, splash. I love the sound the water makes when I run into it! Ahhhhh. I was so hot. I do have to remember not to go into the dark wet stuff though. It makes me get smaller, so I can’t touch the bottom. Oh dear! Ella, Charlie, and Caroline are going to shrink! I have to save them! Almost . . . nooooo! Now I have shrunk! They look fine, but I am getting tired. Thankfully the shrinking curse breaks when I go into the light stuff again! I’ll go check on Mom and Dad. They look good. I wonder if they have any food. *“Bark, whine, wimpier?” Weird, they’re just telling me to be quiet. Well, ok. Whop, there goes the kids off to the big round land. I’ll go supervise them. I’ve always wondered what was over there. It’s really hard to run in this wet stuff. This big island is very interesting! Oh dear! Ella is calling me! **“Bark, whine!” Oh, fine. You win. I’ll go back with you. Stay shallow, Molly, stay shallow. Yes! Time for lunch!

Boat Ride

Why are we going to the dock? It’s dinner time! Wait . . . Why are we getting on the big floaty-thingy?! Ugh! What if I fall in the water when I try to get onto it?! I guess it’s OK if Ella helps me. Now the difference between the car in this boat is that the car teleports, the boat actually moves. Oh, I kind of like this. But how long is it gonna take? Wait . . . we’re here already? I do hope that it’s not another only-humans-eat-place again. Oh my gosh! There’s another dog!!!! Hey, do you wanna play?! Can you play?! I love other dogs! Come here! I want to play! Noooooo! Dad! I want to play with the other dogs! Oh well, I guess they left. Time to go back to the lake house? Already?! Awwww. I was having so much fun.

                                       The Next Day

                                  Time To Get Wet

                                    Day 2

Oh, no! The kids are in the water again! They’re jumping off a floaty-thingy in the middle of the wet stuff! I have to get to them, but how? Dad realizes that I want to get to them? Good! Many he can help me get to them safely! Why is he sitting on the floats? Many he could hold me and go over there! No . . . that’s not comfortable . . . no . . . I can’t see them . . . yes! The noodles are tucked under his legs and he has put me on them too! Perfect! Now I can go out there to them! Wait . . . Ella wants to hold me. Well sure, I would love that! Why isn’t Dad letting her have me? Oh, he thinks I will feel safer with him. No changing his mind. Let’s just go to the little two to make sure that they’re ok. Good! They’re getting off the floaty-thingy and coming to me. Let’s all just stay out in the water and talk. The water is relaxing as long as I don’t have to try not to die. But I’m kinda’ hungry. Let’s go in and eat.

The Ride Home

Why so soon? I was having fun! Oh, Dad has work. I get it. Well, bye Susie, bye Grandaddy. See you soon. I hope. When are we coming back, Caroline? Next week?! Great! But, just wondering, how do you know? Mom told you? I don’t think so . . . but ok.

Well lake, I’ll miss ya’!
