Writing From My Younger Years

The Very Fairy Halloween

Issy, her brother, and her sister were out in the Black Wood Forest for Halloween and they thought that this would be the perfect night.

They started wandering around the forest. Then they stopped and looked.

“Wow, that tree is amazing!” Mike (Issy’s younger brother) said.

“Yeah,” Issy agreed. It was covered in dark green moss with Spanish Moss hanging off of it’s big brown branches.

“So pretty,” Charlie added (Issy’s little sister). Issy peeked into the side of the tree.

“Whoah!” She jumped back. “Did I just see fairies?” She wondered out loud.

“Fairies aren’t real,” Mike argued.

“Yes they are!” Cried Charlie.

“No they aren’t!” Mike exclaimed.

“Yes the-” Charlie was cut off by her big sister.

“Stop arguing!” Issy yelled. Charlie walked over to the tree’s big opening.

“Stop!” Issy cried, running to her.

“Why?” asked Charlie.

“Because you might fall in and get lost in there,” Issy explained.

“Ok,” Charlie said.  Issy peeked into the tree again, but this time she trips on a tree root a falls in. She hears a whoosh, a swirl, and then a thud. She was on the other side!

It had trees and green grass and flowers of all kinds, but the people were very strange. They weren’t human, they were fairies!

“Am I imagining this?” Issy thought. “Or is it real?” Some fairies’ appearances told that they were cheerful, while some looked clever, grumpy, clumsy, or mysterious. Issy looked around seeing all of the strange people then looked at herself. She gasped. She had wings that were purple, blue, and very, very sparkly. She loved them! Her clothes had changed too. She had on a cat costume before she fell into the tree, but now her clothes resembled her wings.

Issy turned around as she herd someone call her.

“Who are you and are you new here?” the fairy asked.

“Hi, my name is Issy and I fell through the willow tree and ended up here,” Issy responded.

“That’s weird. By the way, my name is Hope,” the fairy added.

“I like your name,” said Issy.

“Thanks! Well what are you waiting for? Come on and follow me! I will introduce you to my friends!” Hope exclaimed, starting to fly off.

“Ok,” Issy said. “But I don’t know how to fly.”

“Come on! I will teach you!” said Hope. “Just start running, flap your wings, and you will fly! It’s easy,” Hope explained.

“Ok,” said Issy. She started running and flapping her wings. She had to try a few times, but eventually she got it.

“I’m flying!” said Issy. “This is amazing!”

“Yes, it is amazing,” said Hope.

They flew all the way to their destination. When they got there Issy saw that it was beautiful. They landed on the ground. The grass was so green. It was like they were in a fairy tale. They pretty much where.

Hope introduced Issy to her friends.

“Issy, this is Sunflower, Ray, and Blueberry,” Hope said. They all said hi. Issy asked them if they knew anyway to get back to the other side of the tree. She told them that she was actually human. The fairies gasped when they heard this.

“It’s ok,” said Hope. “She is nice.”

The fairies took a walk and asked Issy questions like; “What is your home like?” and “How do you like having wings?”

They kept walking until they heared a loud cackle.

“Ahh!” all of the fairies yelled. “The Evil Fairy is coming!” They started flying around like crazy. When Issy saw her she turned white. She felt herself falling from where she was in the air. Then she passed out. When she woke up she was alone and everything was wrecked. Her new friends weren’t there.

“Hope!” Issy yelled. “Are you there?” No answer. She yelled louder. No response. She started to cry. When she stopped crying she got up and started looking for them again. She looked everywhere. They were nowhere to found. She thought that she would never see them again. But then she heard something.

“Hope, is that you?” She flew in the direction of the sound and there she found all of her friends. She was so happy to see them, but then she remembered Charlie and Mike. They were probably scared and frightened. She could imagine them calling her name. She told hope that she needed to get home.

They went to the edge of the tree and Issy said good bye.

“I will miss you,” said Issy.

“Good bye!” said Hope.

“Wait I have an idea! You could come with me!” said Issy.

“Yeah! Let’s do it!” said Hope. They all agreed. So, one after another, the jumped through the tree. SWISH, WHIRL, THUD! They all landed on the other side of the tree and as Issy thought, none of them had their wings and their clothes were different. They all looked for Issy’s brother and sister. They eventually found them behind some bushes.

Issy hugged Mike and Charlie. “Next time you can come with me!” She said. Issy showed her friends around and they went trick-or-treating. When it was midnight Issy said bye to her new friends.

“I will come back and visit you soon!” Issy promised. They all said their goodbyes and went their seperate ways.

The Worst Day Every

One sunny day, Jack was playing in his back yard when he tripped over a stump in the ground.

“Ow!” he cried. His mom came running to him.

“What is wrong?” she panted.

“My arm!” he cried. She rushed him to the hospital. When they got there the doctor gave him a x-ray. Then suddenly the power went out before the x-ray could be done.

“I will just give you a cast,” the doctor said. Jack and the doctor headed back to the room where his mom was waiting. The doctor left to go get the cast.

When she came back into the room she had nothing in her hands.

“Where is the cast?”  Jack’s mom asked.

“We are all out. I am so sorry,” the doctor said.

“What will we do now?” Jack cried.

“I will go get you a brace. I saw one that I think will fit you,” the doctor replied. She came back with the brace for Jack and put it on him.

“I guess it feels good,” said Jack glumly.

On the way home in the car, Jack let out a yelp of pain.

“What is wrong?” Jack’s mom yelled.

“My arm really hurts!” Jack cried. He took off his brace and found a streak of red going up his arm. His mom gasped.

“You have a really bad infection! But it is too late to got to the doctor now since we were stuck in traffic for so long. We have to wait until tomorrow,” she said. Jack couldn’t go to sleep that night because it hurt so bad.

They went back to the doctor the next morning. He got a shot and his arm stopped hurting as bad. Then the doctor came in with a green cast. Everything felt like a bad dream. But it was getting better.

Jack went home. That night he slept like a rock. He had a wonderful dream that he was all better.

My mom is the best mom ever. I love her to heaven and back! She deserves the diamond because she works so hard to clean the house and care for me. When I am sad she cuddles and smushes faces with me. When I am excited she celebrates. She is the best mom ever!
